Brief Outline:

Baravore Car Park- Fraughan Rock Glen - Lugnaquilla - Cloghernagh - Arts Lough

Route takes around 6hrs and covers around 16.5km. Total height gain approx. 900m

What you need to bring?

- Waterproof walking boots with good ankle support
- Waterproof Jacket & trousers (The irish weather can be very unpredictable!)
- Comfortable clothes to walk in
- Warm layer
- Lunch & Snacks
- 1.5-2lts of water
- Comfortable rucksack
- Any medication needed e.g. Inhaler

Detailed outline:

The group will meet at 9am at Baravore car park in the Glenmalure Valley, after introductions and a briefing for the day, we will start steadily following an established track. We begin our uphill ascent alongside the Fraughan Rock Glen. We continue on this Path until we join another and head south towards the summit, a continuous steady climb until we reach our Summit, at 977m the highest in Co. Wicklow. 

After summit photos the descent begins. We head east towards Cloghernagh, once we’re over this peak, we head North aiming back towards Baravore and to Arts Lough. A steeper descent into Arts Lough, skirting around the lake and back over the Fraughan Rock Glen rejoining the established track back to Baravore Car Park. 

Breaks & Lunch spots will depend on weather, groups ability and speed.

Travelling along the old Military Road from Laragh towards Glenmalure. You will travel down a steep section of road before arriving at the crossroads at Glenmalure Valley. Turn right here and drive 5 km to the end of the road. Baravore carpark is just where the road fords the Avonbeg River
